Instead of losing weight or quitting smoking let’s think of some fun New Year’s resolution ideas! Focusing on the positives in life is always so much more fun. So instead of focusing on all the things you want to change about yourself, how about instead we just think of fun things we can do in 2022? 

The first New Years Resolution: Go to someplace you have never been 

Traveling is exciting, it opens your mind to different cultures, and it doesn’t have to be expensive. Step outside your comfort zone and try something new. You don’t have to go to Europe you can even stay in your city and find somewhere new to explore. 

Traveling has a lot of benefits it helps you disconnect from average life, recharge, and boosts your creativity. 

Here in Phoenix, it is impossible to have experienced everything our city has to offer. We have tons of museums and art exhibits to choose from. If you’re more outdoor-oriented you can choose one of the 239 trails throughout Phoenix to hike! You could also take a mental health day and go to a spa. Maybe try to go to one new place a month. 

Random Acts of Kindness

The world today needs more kindness in it. These acts are small but they make a huge impact on peoples day to day lives. Not only do they benefit other people but random acts of kindness benefit you as well. Charitable acts boost the serotonin levels in your brain giving you what experts call a “helpers high”. Your brain also releases more oxytocin which helps dilate blood vessels and reduce blood pressure. Oxytocin also helps minimize inflammation which attributes to arthritis, cancers, and a whole mess of other problems in our bodies. 

Set a goal to do one act of kindness a week. Put coins in parking meters, take time to write a good review, or donate blankets to the animal shelter. The community will be stronger, your friends will be happier, and your body will thank you.

Focus on a passion for your New Years Resolution 

Are you interested in photography or videography? Take some classes! There are tons of ways on the internet to learn anything you want. Having a hobby can reduce the risk of depression or dementia. They keep your brain working in a productive way instead of being stagnant.  

Make it a goal to either find a passion and work on it or fine-tune your already established passions. 

We are passionate about carpet cleaning here at Zerorez®, but we’ve got that about as fine-tuned as it can be. 😉 Other areas that we are passionate about would be tile, granite, upholstery, and of course, science!

Talk less listen more

People like good listeners. Listening to other people can help solve problems and you might receive some good advice. Maybe start taking one day a week to just focus on what other people have to say. 

Our customers are very important to us and our representatives love to hear any feedback you may have on your carpet cleaning. Leaving a Zerorez® review on Google or Facebook helps us listen to our customers. 

Do something bold

Be unpredictable, spontaneous, and take risks. Life is too short to be quiet, strike up a conversation with a stranger! Step outside your comfort zone and take a dance class! Maybe once a week (depending on how bold you are feeling) try and add some spontaneity to your life. Lookup a bunch of bad puns and relentlessly tell them to your coworkers. 😉

A Good New Years Resolution: Be kind on social media

We have all had enough of what’s going on in the world. This year be a positive influence. Try to only post uplifting or funny material. If you want to be entertained check out our Zerorez® Facebook page! 

Bring a plant home

Plants help the indoor air quality and they give your space a more personalized feel. Do you have a north-facing window? Do some research on what plant might work best for you. It’s fun to get a pothos vine and take pictures of its growth over the months. 

Do you know what else is good for indoor air quality? Hiring Zerorez® at least once a year! Carpet is the biggest air filter in your home, having it cleaned promotes healthy breathing! 

Read one book a month

Reading 20 minutes a day will increase your vocabulary. This helps you communicate ideas and express yourself. Do you want to have a good 2022 or a commendable 2022? Reading also helps improve empathy, lowers blood pressure, and contributes to a longer life! You’ll be able to extend your years and as a result, make more New Years Resolution!

Stay in touch with people who matter

Make it a habit to call your grandparents, text a friend a quick joke, or go have coffee with your mom. The people who matter should be made a priority.  Make it a New Years Resolution to find time for loved ones.

You, our customer matter to us. We reach out as much as we can. Once you book an appointment we give you a call two days before to confirm and set a time. When the technician is on the way to clean your carpets we give you a call then too. Afterward, we ask you how your cleaning experience was.

Write down what you’re gratitudes

A good goal is to take 5 minutes in the morning and reflect. Write down something you are grateful for every day for a whole year, you’d be surprised at how much stuff you can come up with. 

We are grateful for dirty carpets, science, and our Zr Water®. 

Keep your world clean

It’s hard to get on a regular cleaning schedule for your home. Choosing one thing a day to put away, one room a week to scrub, and one major area a month to deep clean might help. 

At Zerorez® we clean more than just carpet. Are your tile and grout floors looking darker after every New Year’s Eve party? What about the sofa in the living room? We can ease some of the stress. 

Hopefully, this list helped you think outside the box and come up with more relatable New Years Resolution. Year after year we try to put down cigarettes, go to the gym or stop eating saturated fats. But, year after year we step right back into our old habits by March. This year let’s do something different, let’s have fun, be spontaneous, and grow into our best selves!
