Not only does Zerorez® Phoenix have foolproof ways to remove stains, but believe it or not, we also have a way to avoid staining your carpets, to begin with.
Is that even possible?
Yes! But it’s not a perfect system.
While there isn’t a magical formula to keep your carpets stain free, there are some easy Zerorez® tips to follow on how to avoid carpet staining in the first place!
Rugs Are Your Best Friend
Rugs are the best way to protect your investment (AKA your carpets).
Think of it this way. Rugs help to direct the foot traffic from the permanent, expensive carpets to a less expensive, often temporary area rug.
The best places to put rugs are often doorways, especially entryways from the front door, garage, or backyard if carpet immediately follows the entryway. Other high traffic areas you might consider a “runner” would be the hallways or the stairs.
You may even consider putting rugs down at transition points when the carpet transitions to wood or tile. This will help contain the traffic stains but also avoid fraying and the wear and tear that come with the transition areas.
Not only will rugs help dodge carpet staining, but they will also help to extend the life of your carpets.
Remove Your Shoes
This tip might feel like a no-brainer, but sometimes we all need reminding don’t we? I know I personally could be better at removing my shoes before I walk on the carpets.
Given that we just had a chat about high traffic areas staining your carpets, it seems only fitting we talk about the role of shoes in that department.
Shoes bring unwanted dirt, grime, and germs into your home. We don’t lik touching the bottoms of our shoes, or putting them up on the couch right?
So why do we forget to take them off before walking on the largest dirt collector in our home?
Make it easier on yourself by creating habits to ensure this happens every time. Maybe that’s done by simply having a shoe rack by the front door, or inside the garage. Maybe it’s having a mudroom to take your shoes off in.
Perhaps you will avoid the whole shoe thing altogether by just getting that giant area rug in the living room to stave off traffic stains.
No matter what it is, make it a habit, and it will surely stick.
Even without dirty shoes dragging around on your carpets, your carpets can still wear and tear with time. But staining them without shoes is much less likely!
Spot Cleaning Right Away
Acting quickly upon spilling something is vital. Most of us know a decent way to get stains out of our carpet, however, most require some type of harsh chemical stain cleaners or removers.
Did you know harsh chemicals and soaps actually leave behind a sticky residue on your carpet? Here at Zerorez® we do not recommend using chemically based stain removers.
Trust us when we say, it is so much harder to get stains out AFTER a sticky residue presence has been made.
Instead, all you’ll need is a clean white towel or rag, a clean microfiber cloth, and some of our Powered Water®.
First, you need to lay the clean white towel down over the spill. Do not rub or scrub! Simply apply pressure, and allow the liquid to soak into the towel.
Once you have gotten as much out as possible, apply that Powered Water® and let it sit for about a minute. Then, using the microfiber cloth, dab the spill up working your way from the outside in.
This should hold you over until your next professional carpet cleaning, and ensure that the area is not caked with chemical, dirt-attracting residue (which would make the stain worse with time).
Apply Carpet Protectant Regularly
Now, if you’re like me, you might not even have known that carpet protectant was a thing! Until Zerorez® Tucson, I had no idea this concept even existed.
Zerorez® Fiber Protector™ is a fabulous new formula that represents the cutting edge of carpet protectors today. It uses state-of-the-art, environmentally safe technology to protect against damaging dry soils as well as both water-based and oil-based spills.
Not to mention, like everything Zerorez® does, our carpet protectant is non-toxic, fragrance-free, and dye-free and therefore absolutely safe for kids and pets!
Upon request, we will use and apply the Zerorez® Premium Fiber Protector after a cleaning service, restoring your carpets to “like-new” protection. Make it a habit to re-apply carpet protector after each Zerorez® cleaning.
This will not only protect your carpets from staining but also lengthen the life of your carpet!
