It’s summer, in Arizona, which means that it’s hot outside and your home is full of board kiddos. You are trying to work, take care of your home, and keep them entertained all at the same time. It probably feels like your home will never be clean again! Well at least for the next couple of months that is. We’re here to help. Here are 5 quick tips to keep your home feeling and looking clean even during summer break.
Start The Summer With a Declutter Session
Let’s start our 5 tips with something easy!
There is no better way to make your home feel cleaner and less cluttered than to get rid of a bunch of them! Start the summer off with a day of giving away. Get the kids involved, and have them help you pick out toys they no longer want to pass on for someone else to enjoy.
Show them you can do it too! Get in that closet of yours and make a pile of all those clothes you’re keeping because you “may wear them again someday.”
Once all that is done give them the chance to clean off their newly cleared shelves with Zr Water® which is non-toxic and will leave surfaces residue free®. While you’re on a cleaning streak, you can use our Zr Water to clean off your newly cleared surfaces; along with your countertops, stovetops, mirrors, tile floors, and more!
Find It a Home
As I’m sure you’ve heard before the best way to organize is to create a place for everything and make sure it goes in that place when not in use. Teaching this process to your kids at a young age will not only help your home stay cleaner but it will be an invaluable skill for your kids as they grow up!
Keep toy bins within easy reach and label them with the names and a simple picture of what should be inside. For example one bucket for “cars 🚗” and another for “Blocks 🧱” will help keep things organized and easily findable, and will also make it less painful for kiddos during clean-up time because they will know right where to put everything!
This will help a lot with our next step…
Okay, this is a tough one… but soooo essential to keep your home clean with kids. You have got to get them on a cleaning routine. Whether it’s cleaning up one mess before they move on to the next or cleaning up before lunch and then again before dinner, get through those first couple of days of fighting back and you will be golden.
We know how hard it can be to get kids to clean up after themselves. Try making it a game. Help them the first couple of times to show them where things need to go and see if they can put away more toys than you. Competition is a great motivator! Pretty soon your kids will be cleaning up after themselves no problem, and you’ll be able to give yourself a big ol’ pat on the back.
Once those cleaning routines are in place it’s a good idea to make big clean-ups easier by making it organized. One idea is to take several laundry baskets or bins and place them in the middle of the room. Then you can organize items in the baskets to put them away in the proper place. Stuff for bedroom 1 in one basket, stuff for the laundry room in another, etc. Move the baskets from area to area and clean them out as you go.
